Each fall the colors of the Gingko trees change to a beautiful yellow gold color
The Ginkgo Tree has been described as a living fossil as it is the only surviving type relating to the Ginkgogoales, a species of plants which was found everywhere over 200 million years ago during the Mesozoic period. The only place the Ginkgo tree survived was in China in the middle of the 1700's. It was then introduced to the United States in 1784 and now the Ginkgo tree can be found in many places across the world.
The leaves on the Ginkgo Tree are formed in a fan shape with two lobes which makes the tree easy to recognize. When the fall season takes over in places, the leaves on the tree change from green to yellow and hundreds of them drop to the ground. Some of the Ginkgo trees can grow to be over 100 feet high and live for very long periods of time so when the leaves drop from the large trees, they can cover quite a large area.
The Ginkgo Tree is one which does not have many diseases, very few insects attack it and the roots go beneath the surface quite deep, making it a strong species of tree which should be around for years to come.
